Paws Exhibition
Every quilt tells a story, but we have an exhibition in Belfast this year that tells a story we can all relate to, and there will be 6 beautiful quilts on display. Here is the story:
“We started a sewing group (PAWS) when our local quilt store closed. One of our classmates generously offered us her sewing room every Wednesday evening.
After talking about it for many years we decided to do a Round Robin quilt so that our friendship would be sealed in fabric We started in 2019 not knowing what lay ahead and we are so glad we did. During lockdowns we still managed to keep it going safely exchanging each quilt in numbered bags so we didn’t know whose quilt we were working on.
But of course having been friends for quite some time we had a pretty good idea when we saw the fabrics whose was whose. When lockdowns had come to an end, thankfully we all got together again and revealed the finished quilt tops.
It is wonderful to see all 6 quilts made by all of us in different fabrics. I cherish mine and recognise the work each of my friends put into each stitch. It reminds me of the importance of friendship especially in difficult times
PAWS by the way is an acronym for Patchwork and Wine Society.”
